As humans, we have a natural inclination to know ourselves. At some point, we want more out of life than simply going through the motions or dealing with the basics of survival. We want to celebrate the joy of Life.
Soulwork is a process in which we give ourselves time to reflect on who we are and how we live in the world. It is an opportunity to get to know ourselves and learn to live in an integrated way in the present moment. The more we can be present to this moment, the less we suffer from the past or worry about the future. We can experience a kind of freedom that allows us to be. Then we can be with ourselves, and love ourselves, flaws and all - and we can learn to do this with others. This process leads to a practice of honoring and celebrating ourselves and all of life. Soulwork provides an opportunity to experience ourselves as individuals connected with the great whole of creation.
Soulwork is not so much about letting things go as it is about learning to let things be. As we learn to be with what is going on for ourselves in the moment and track it through a body-centered approach, we gain insights into our patterns. The more wisdom and understanding drops down into the body, so that insights and knowledge are not only in our head but are integrated physically, emotionally, and spiritually as well, the more we move in the world from a place of true compassion. As we gain this knowledge, we gain deep compassion for who we are. This process leads to places of gentle opening and space. We honor and celebrate the miracle of who we are, and we begin to honor that in others. From these places of gentle opening, we develop both courage and trust in the process. We become empowered to take responsibility for our world. We learn to live more consciously, responding to situations rather than reacting. We may begin to make changes, one action-step at a time. We learn to sit with ourselves in difficult times and let the emotions flow through us, rather than trying to stop them or change them. This leads to further openness and compassion. The spiral continues on, and we settle more firmly and deeply into ourselves, knowing ourselves at more intimate levels. We begin to live a more centered, connected, deeply human, soulful life.
